By chance I saw your comment on LocaBoat’s FB page, followed you to Instagram, then (stalking) to your blog. I felt a kindred spirit immediately not only with your music choices but your travel adventures. My name is Joanne McLennan. We live in Oregon but we were both raised in Southern California. We planned a canal trip in 2020 on the canal de Nivernais but had to cancel due to Covid. We are now rebooked for this September. We will be four of us, 2 weeks from Dompierre to Joigny. Thank you for your photos and commentary of your trips. I’d also love to travel the UK via boat.

I’ve let this blog lapse for a while, but now getting ready to re-start. We just finished 3 weeks on the Canal Du Midi in May/June 2023 (Not through LocaBoat but on France Afloat due to the types of boats offered in that area). We also did a couple narrowboat canal trips in England and Wales. As well as the Canal de Bourgogne from Joigny to Venarey. Needless to say, we are enamored with canal vacations. I’ll be posting about those experiences starting in the next couple weeks.
I am, however, very interested in your trip on the Canal de Nivernais! I’m thinking of taking 3 weeks to go from Dompierre-sur-Bresbre to Briare in May/June 2024. I know that the LocaBoat Guide has this as a 2 wk trip, but I plan on taking side trips via train, bike or car which would mean there would be non-cruising days. We’ve only gone from Joigny to Auxerre, and Joigny to Veneray, so I’m very interested on your take of the highlights from beyond Auxerre to Dompierre! Maybe that will inspire me to get back on the posting! Thank you for your kind comments.
